Torres Isozaki
Las Torres Isozaki son uno de los iconos de la arquitectura contemporánea de Bilbao y símbolo de su transformación en una ciudad moderna y cosmopolita. Situadas a orillas de la ría del Nervión, entre el Puente Zubizuri y el Paseo de Uribitarte, forman un conjunto que combina elegancia, diseño y funcionalidad.

El complejo fue diseñado por el prestigioso arquitecto japonés Arata Isozaki, en colaboración con el vasco Iñaki Aurrekoetxea, y se inauguró en 2008. Está compuesto por dos torres gemelas de 83 metros de altura y 23 plantas cada una, acompañadas por varios edificios de menor tamaño que crean un conjunto equilibrado y armónico.

Su diseño minimalista y sobrio, con fachadas de vidrio y acero, refleja la luz de la ría y cambia de tonalidad según la hora del día, integrándose perfectamente en el paisaje urbano. A sus pies se extiende la Isozaki Atea (en euskera, “Puerta Isozaki”), un amplio espacio peatonal que conecta directamente con el Puente Zubizuri, diseñado por Santiago Calatrava, y que simboliza la unión entre ambas orillas de la ciudad.

En el interior de las torres hay viviendas, oficinas y locales comerciales, además de espacios abiertos al público que mantienen una estrecha relación con el entorno urbano.

Las Torres Isozaki representan el Bilbao del siglo XXI: una ciudad que mira al futuro sin olvidar su pasado, capaz de integrar la modernidad arquitectónica en un entorno lleno de historia y tradición. Contemplar sus siluetas reflejadas en la ría, especialmente al atardecer, es una de las imágenes más bellas del nuevo Bilbao.
The Isozaki Towers are one of the icons of contemporary architecture in Bilbao and a symbol of the city’s transformation into a modern and cosmopolitan metropolis. Located on the banks of the Nervión River, between the Zubizuri Bridge and the Uribitarte Promenade, they form a complex that combines elegance, design, and functionality.

The project was designed by the renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, in collaboration with Basque architect Iñaki Aurrekoetxea, and was inaugurated in 2008. It consists of two twin towers, each 83 meters high with 23 floors, accompanied by several smaller buildings that create a balanced and harmonious ensemble.
​
Their minimalist and refined design, featuring glass and steel façades, reflects the light of the river and changes in tone throughout the day, blending seamlessly into the urban landscape. At their base stretches the Isozaki Atea (Basque for “Isozaki Gate”), a wide pedestrian plaza that connects directly to the Zubizuri Bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava, symbolizing the union between both sides of the city.

Inside the towers are residential apartments, offices, and commercial spaces, along with public areas that maintain a close connection with the surrounding urban environment.

The Isozaki Towers represent 21st-century Bilbao — a city that looks toward the future without forgetting its past, capable of integrating architectural modernity within a landscape rich in history and tradition. Seeing their silhouettes reflected in the river, especially at sunset, is one of the most striking and beautiful images of the new Bilbao.
